Color

Design Blitz

This is a road sign indicating a road is closed and there will be a detour ahead. It is bright orange with dark black letter. The bright orange color stands out and gets your attention. The dark thin letters are big and easy to read making it the best color palette and design for people driving. It is simple but effective.

Dominance

Design Blitz

This is a flyer advertising for an upcoming concert being head at OU. The majority of the flyer is the rappers face, drawing your attention. By having a dominant face and picture people will be drawn to it if they know who it is and what to find out where the concert is or if they don’t know who it is so they want to find out. He is the person performing so he is the dominant element of this design.

Balance

Design Blitz

This is a magnet used to show whether dishes in the dishwasher are clean or dirty. The colors and fonts are the same just switched. The sides are also mirroring each other which is very aesthetically pleasing. The balance in this design makes this magnet even more effective. It also has an element of color because of what the black and white represent. When the black is up the dishes are dirty and dark, but when the dishes are clean the white side is up which represents purity.

Use of Space/Typography

Design Blitz

This is a bag from the store Lululemon. The whole bag is covered in different motivational sayings all in different fonts and sizes. They only use two colors but the way the words are arranged as well as the different boldness and fonts add a dynamic effect. This bag attracts attention and holds attention because there are so many different words on the bag. It uses up all of the space and fills it with words, although the red background is still able to be seenĀ and it the majority of the bag.

Form/Function/Message

Design Blitz

This is a sign that is informing people who ride bikes on campus to register them. It is sending a message to students and having them up in areas where students will see them while going to class makes it very effective. It also has a bike at the very top and draws your attention to the “Bike Sooner.” It is also effective because the words of where to register it are in a brighter different color to draw attention.
