This week, I was able to apply my new knowledge of Photoshop to our second direct mailer!
We were asked to create another direct mailer that would be relevant to our previous stakeholder. I chose to target the parents of a prospective Sooner because I felt that this would be most effective in terms of reach. Not only would it grab the attention of the newly accepted student by seeing two cards in the mail, but it would be a personable gesture from the university, communicating that they want their legacy to continue.
The direct mailer, sent to parents that are alumni of a prospective student, emphasizes the message that tradition is a value that is important to OU. The two aspects that changed the most were the message and pictures. I wanted to incorporate lyrics from the university’s chant and display the most beautiful areas of campus. I felt that alumni would want to see that their student could carry on a legacy on the campus that is just as beautiful as it was when they were in school.
The biggest difference I have noticed so far between Photoshop and InDesign is the tasks you perform on them. Indesign is better for print related projects such as flyers and Photoshop is ideal for graphics and creating projects that can be transferred over to InDesign. I also noticed that on Photoshop, you use layers, which gives you the option to make your projects much more detailed.
I can’t wait to take on the next assignment!
