This week, I was able to become more familiar with Adobe InDesign and all the tools I can utilize when creating projects such as the template we were provided with this week. We were asked to recreate the example of a newspaper article given in InDesign. In order to replicate it, I had to create several text boxes as well as refer to and pay close attention to each corresponding font and font size. This was my first real experience with InDesign so I struggled some but was able to teach myself a majority of how to maneuver throughout the program. Next, we were asked to recognize the key terms which make up a newspaper article by getting our own copy of a magazine or newspaper and labeling each of those terms that exist in the article. The video provided by Professor Croom was extremely helpful because there were certain terms that I was not familiar with in the beginning and I also had to do some research in order to make sure I was labeling sections of the article in the correct way. After completing these assignments, I felt accomplished because I learned two very new concepts as well as important terms I will need to know from now on throughout my Public Relations career. This particular reaction occurred because it was the first time I felt like I grasped concepts that go hand and hand with the profession I am pursuing. It was satisfying to be able to take the information given to us on Canvas and transfer it to new and useful knowledge.
