Another week down, another week my design skills were put to the test.

After barely surviving the Photoshop from last week, I was kinda hesitant to open the module for this week.

When I saw that we would be working with a new tool, called Canva my reaction was:

In short, I had never heard of Canva before. Ever.

I then saw that we had to go through some tutorials to familiarize  ourselves with the tool. I noticed that there were two tutorials that we HAD to do and then we could optionally due two more out of a list of extra ones.

GUYS.

After working my way through the first tutorials, I was feeling BRAND NEW. So much so that I decided to complete the other ones, just because.

Upon completing the final tutorial I was like

I HAD FINALLY COME ACROSS SOMETHING THAT I WAS COMPLETELY COMFORTABLE WITH!

For this module, we were to design social media pieces for a company of our choice. I chose Nike. I chose Nike because whenever they advertise something it’s hardly ever shoes. They already know that you know what they’re known for, so the fact that you’re going to buy shoes is kinda evident. Nike knows this, so instead they focus their attention on getting you to be as active as you possibly can.

I really enjoyed Canva, a lot more than I did Photoshop. I understand that you are able to create a wider range of things with Photoshop but it was still really nice to take a break from it and have something that I did not completely stress out about for once.

I still think that InDesign is my absolute favorite, but I also find myself having a weak spot for Canva now. It was really nice to be able to just click something and do with it what I wanted to do. I wish there more tools like this available, I feel as if it would make a HUGE difference.

In closing, I really, really, REALLY enjoyed this week and I think my work shows it. I am proud of what I created and find myself somewhat anxiously looking forward to see what next week has in store!
