In this unit, we were to put the finishing touches on our newsletters.
If you’ll remember, in the previous post, I noted how I was going to do mine over stories that involve Apple.
In short, this project was a lot more difficult than I originally thought it was going to be. Everything from making sure that every story had a deck, to having a byline, to having a pull quote made me want to pull my hair out.
Making everything fit where I wanted to, and making sure everything looked just right was very challenging.
But then I remembered,
THIS IS INDESIGN
We love InDesign and how straight forward it can be at times, so we preserved and in the end, I think I produced a decent newsletter.
Now while I say that, I’ll be the first to tell you that I don’t think that it’s perfect. But, given that i’m still improving my skills with InDesign, I am content with what I came up with.
Designing around Apple’s anesthetic was very hard to do as well, I didn’t know if I was doing too much or doing too little and at the end of the day, I really tried not thinking about it. I know that if I were ACTUALLY working at the company, I would have someone over me every step of the way and I feel if that is a big part of their success.
The more I work with InDesign, the more I love it. In fact, if we had a class that focused SOLELY on InDesign and nothing else (I’m looking at you Photoshop) I would sign up 5 times for it, I’m that big of a fan.
I really hope that wherever my career takes me that InDesign won’t be too far behind. I’m really starting to develop a connection with it and I know that I will keep my subscription way after this class is over with so I can continue to hone my skills.
Because like I’ve said many times before
I love InDesign
