Supplemental questions:
- How did your target public affect your overall content and design strategy?
This week we were asked to finish a newsletter designed for a client of our choice. I chose Apple and had a blast creating for them! I really liked the clean and simple design aspect the company has – it is very similar to my personal style. In coming up with an overall theme I chose to isolate key colors from images in the stories and use them as a sort of border to add a design element. Overall I really was pleased with what I came up with for the final project. I like the fluidity as well as the two double-page spreads that really add something different to the design project as a whole. I think that I was so happy with the end result because I spent so much time planning what it would look like and where everything would go that by the time I saw the finished product – I was so relieved that it ended up like I had hoped. I knew that my target public would be broad, as Apple has an immense following of people from around the world. I wanted to utilize this newsletter as an update for all the recent happenings going on in Apple world and relate it to the people using the product. So in choosing the MacBook reveal, iPhone update, Apple Watch and Nike collaboration rounded out with the Apple Music Festival promotiing Apple Music, I knew that I would cater to a variety of people who use Apple for a vast amount of different things: the MacBook Pro for the business and student oriented, iPhone for everyday use, Nike + Apple Watch for the fitness oriented follower as well as the music festival for the arts oriented fan.
