Here we are at the close of another unit, and I’ve got to say that I am excited to be finished but it is official; I am a photoshop junkie. I have absolutely fallen in love with the software, think its so easy to use and think that it creates product that is not only super visual but super malleable which I love. So, in short, here is what I ended up with!

Direct Mailer: Final Product!! Direct Mailer: Final Product!! Direct Mailer: Final Product!!

So I created two different fronts for my two stakeholders, National Merits and their parents, and then one backer that is generic for any and all OU correspondence that could be mailed to potential students. The first mailer, top, is directed to students. I chose the Bizzell Memorial Library’s Great Reading Room because it is iconic for the University, gives off a scholarly vibe while still being culturally relevant because its just as cool as Hogwarts, and because it was a beautiful stock image that I found on OU’s website. I did simple content with listing the perks of coming to OU as a National Merit and highlighted the important part in red.

For my second backer, I tried to make the copy a little more emotionally accessible for parents trying to help them envision their kid not only at a quality university but at a place that they can eventually call home. Stuck with the same pattern to create continuity and used the same stock backer I created.

I made the backer super simple so that it can be repurposed continually forever on any image for any recruiting reason, and because I think it looks simple, clean and that it really propels the message that we’re getting at which is just to apply.

Overall, I’m so thrilled with the development and change of my mailers. I started out hating them and now I think they are really cool and easy to connect with, that they are eye-catching but not too much and that they use image and print to create a feeling, which is the total goal of design in the first place, so huzzah for that.
