This week we were asked to design a draft of our second direct mailer for OU Recruitment. We used Photoshop again too. So here is how this project and week went for me. It went pretty well.

The stakeholder for my first mailer was prospective students who have a least one person in their family who graduated from OU thus making the student an OU Legacy. This week I decided to add onto this idea and target the family member (probably the parent) who attended OU and has influence over the student’s college decision.

As far as my designs go I haven’t made any changes to my first mailer but I plan to for the final product. I also think I may switch the two mailers. I feel my current mailer #1 resonates more to an older audience and the second one is more colorful and therefore might apply more to draw in prospective students. I haven’t really decided yet though but I’ll definitely keep the integrity of the design for each piece.

Photoshop and InDesign are similar but also really different as well. I feel like InDesign is easier to work with and grasp. The layers in Photoshop still confuse me and I have trouble doing the most basic tasks like drawing a line. One similarity between the two is that you can manipulate photos. However, Photoshop got easier the more I played around on it. I’m excited to improve though.
