We have put this week in the books and I have the first official draft of my business card for Keep Exploring!!! Wooooo!!!
okay so here’s what it is: the bottom left white card is the front, where basic information and the pennant logo are shown and can be filled in by any member of the company. I went with a more rustic, kinda outdoorsy/artsy font because I feel like that encompasses the feel/motivation/ideals of the company better than a regular serif. I originally set the background color as red, but that was too much. I also had a banner logo across the top originally, but I also thought that that was over branding, so I went with the more subtle logo.
The top right corner is the part of the design that I am really really proud of; not because its super complicated or because I had to do a lot of work necessarily, but because its innovative and its going to be so cool as a developmental tool for their company. So the top right is the back of the business card which is doubling as what you ask? Drum roll….A STICKER!! A vinyl peel off sticker!! The first product ever mass produced by the company will now be available on the back of every business card! What is cooler.
So here’s how the whole thing becomes not only affordable, but interactive and useful for the company as a whole. Instagramers from around the world will submit photos with the trademark flag to be used as stickers in the new “Keep Exploring: Trailblazers” campaign. Every person hashtags #trailblazers in their caption and tags keep exploring in the photo for a chance to win. What’s the prize? Their photos will be turned into stickers that can be sold for profit, and the select few that are super fantastic will be, you guessed it, featured on the back of the business cards.
What I think I need to do is do a third business card image in InDesign to show what’s underneath the sticker. It’s going to be hand lettering that says “Keep Exploring (next line) Aiding Adventure since 2012” red background, white letters. The sticker will be inlayed within the red background on sticker paper so that it looks like its got a border around it. I’m going to hand draw all of this and post an update with my next blog post.
I’m really excited about this project, I think its going to turn out really well! Let me know what you think.
