This post concludes the end of our fourth project, creating a newsletter for a company or organization of our choice. I decided to create a newsletter for L’Oreal Paris, a world brand leader in makeup and hair products. I have always had an interest in the beauty and fashion industry and my hope is that one day I will be able to have a career in that field. The best part about this project is that we were able to use InDesign again! I love InDesign. I feel like I am way better at it than Photoshop, but that may be because we spent a little more time using InDesign than Photoshop.
I was feeling very hopeful about this project. My first draft, check my last post, was ROUGH. It had way too much white space and I had not yet found images in high resolution to use in my newsletter. After several hours, everything started coming together. Visually, I think my newsletter looks great! I’m very proud with my final draft. However, there are a few things that I don’t think I did completely right. I knew it would be difficult finding an image with the L’Oreal logo. After searching forever, I finally came across one (the one I chose for my final draft) except it is not 100% perfect. By that I mean, that it still looks slightly blurry. Just slightly. I just could simply not find a higher quality image. Hopefully I won’t have points taken off for that. Another thing that I don’t feel comfortable with are the articles I found on the L’Oreal website. The articles were great, but they were not traditional articles. They did not have a subhead or even an author. For my byline I write L’Oreal Paris and I created my own subheads based on the articles. I also hope this was ok to do for this project. If I had known both of these things I think I would be feeling way more comfortable and satisfied with my work.
However, I’m feeling confident and I’m excited to receive feedback and find out if my newsletter is portfolio worthy! How cool would it be if I could show this to L’Oreal one day? Very cool.
