This week in InDesign we were asked to start a draft of our business cards. With that came the research on our company that we chose as well as lots of brainstorming and analysis on Pinterest beforehand. Once I decided on JAIA Yoga Studio I was immediately excited to start designing, but first had to conceptually organize what to do through the Pinterest mood and inspiration boards. Those were both very helpful to get an idea of what I wanted to do for the card. Of the Pinterest boards, however, I was thrown off by the competitor analysis. In my head the competitor analysis would have been almost a “recon” of other yoga studios, but we actually were pulling pictures from the company we were doing. Once I finally got into InDesign I moved through it pretty quickly. As with all of the Adobe Creative Cloud applications when you do eventually catch a snag with the tools it is very frustrating. Specifically, this time I was getting stuck on scaling my image, even though I knew I was doing the correct steps. Upon looking u pother video tutorials, I was able to regain my composure and get back to designing! I am someone who gets frustrated with computers very easily when they aren’t working as I would like them to, and so I am prepared to be annoyed with InDesign often since its still new to me. Overall I would say that I have a pretty solid draft for the card. I know that I will have to tweak some things but I am pleased with how I am starting.
