Reflecting on this week and this assignment bring me to two different places. For this week, I have felt overwhelmed a majority of the time, on the bright side, I didn’t feel overwhelmed about this class or this assignment, which is awesome. Usually I am afraid of taking online classes, for fear that I will forget about something involving the class since I am not actually in a physical classroom. Thankfully this hasn’t happened yet. So this week was a good one when it come to this class specifically. I felt like the assignments were well explained and that the assignment at hand was interesting and easy to complete.

For the assignment I made two separate postcards for two separate demographics for OU recruitment services. My first postcard was to a potential student who’s parents attended OU, and my second postcard was to a National Merit Scholar. Both of these had different elements, such as the messages on the postcards, and the images used.

If I were to do this assignment again, I would have probably picked a different demographic for my first postcard. I thought my postcard was fine, I just didn’t think there was an idea of a certain demographic. I would have made that more clear, or chosen a different demographic.

I don’t think I was overwhelmed by this assignment this week because I am starting to get really comfortable with photoshop and indesign. While I’m not an expert, I do have most of the basics down now. The next thing I want to work on is making things flow more, experimenting with fonts and colors, and trying to step outside of my comfort zone.

I chose to make postcards for my mailers because I personally love the idea of postcards. There doesn’t have to be a reason to send a postcard, and there isn’t a certain time of the year to send them. They make people feel good by getting them, and I wanted to be able to design my own.
