This unit we were asked to pick a Fortune 500 company and then create a newsletter for them. I chose Nordstrom as my company. We were able to use prewritten stories in our newsletter as long as we included 3. We had specific guidelines of what needed to be included in our newsletter. We were asked to use Indesign for the first time in a few weeks. Luckily, I like Indesign more than photoshop but I was a little rusty after not using it for a few weeks. Making the dummy layout took me a good amount of time and so did making my newsletter into the real deal. I responded differently to this design assignment then I have to others in the past. I wasn’t as nervous and anxious to begin this project. It wasn’t any easier than the other projects, I just felt more confident in what I was doing. At first, I wasn’t sure how to feel about what I made. I was excited to receive Professor Croom’s feedback to see what I missed and what I could improve on. I think I reacted like that because I know my professor is more educated on this subject. I knew he could provide great feedback that would help me make my design as best as it could be. My target public is very large. People of all ages and genders shop at Nordstrom. I didn’t really have a specific target public because there are so many demographics that I could hit. I focus more on philanthropic stories because I figure people who would be reading a newsletter would be interested in those types of stories.
