1. What were you asked to do?

In this unit, we were asked to a chose a company that we would design a few social media pieces for. We used a new software, Canva, which I loved! We had to go through a few tutorials on the Canva website to ensure that we were prepared to create our designs that we would turn in for a grade.

2. How did you respond to what you were asked to do?

I was super excited once I had completed the tutorials on Canva. I loved the website. It made creating design pieces simple and easy. I ended up choosing Spotify as my company to create social media pieces for because I love music and I use Spotify regularly.

3. How did react you to what you actually did?

I was really happy with the designs that I had come up with. For one of my designs I used a photo that I had taken at a concert over the summer. I chose to go with a black and white theme because I think it fits Spotify’s aesthetic. In the end, I think that I created four pieces that look nice and represent the brand well.

4. Now go one level deeper: Why do you think your reaction was what it was?

I think that I was just proud of my design. I think they look really cool and they were fairly easy to create.

Supplemental questions:

What are some of the affordances that an app like Canva brings?

Canva makes creating so simple. I think that anyone could figure out how to use it for design purposes!

What limitations does an app like Canva have?

Canva isn’t as advanced as Photoshop or InDesign so there are limitations in what you can do in terms of editing photos and creating booklets, flyers, etc.

Here is an example of one of my designs that I create for Spotify’s Twitter Cover!Reflection 4.1
