This week, we had to break away from the comfort of InDesign and focus all our attention on Photoshop. We were asked to create a direct mailer on behalf of the recruitment office at the University of Oklahoma which would be sent out to prospective students. In order to complete this assignment, we had to designate a target stakeholder and complete the Segments Stakeholder Matrix. This gave us a better idea of who we were actually communicating to, familiarized us with who they are and what message would be necessary to grab their attention. The assignments overall were very intimidating, especially developing the Matrix information which was time-consuming and tedious. However, I found that after completing them, I felt more accomplished than ever. Not only did I know my target stakeholder extremely well, but I was also able to help others with Photoshop. It was exciting to learn a whole new side of PR and feel confident in it as well. Although I doubted myself and judged the assignments before I attempted them, the effort was absolutely worth it and I can’t wait to continue perfecting my direct mailer.
