1. What were you asked to do?
I am going to be very honest. This unit was tough. We were asked to create two direct mailers for a recruiting program at OU. I chose to do mine over OU soccer because I am pretty familiar with it and it is a sport that I enjoy.
2. How did you respond to what you were asked to do?
I was definitely nervous for this unit because we had to use Photoshop and I prefer InDesign. For the first draft I did a pretty basic design, which I ended up changing for my final draft! A mistake that I made on my first direct mailer was not putting a place for an address and stamp, which I had to add on the back of my final draft! It took me a long time but I feel good about my final designs!
3. How did react to what you actually did?
I feel pretty good about my designs! I used photos that I think are appealing on the fronts of my direct mailers and then I used similar backs for both of my direct mailers. I am happy with my final product and I think that I would actually send these out if I worked for athletics at OU!
4. Now go one level deeper: Why do you think your reaction was what it was?
I think when I finished my first drafts I was pretty disappointed because they looked very basic. With my final drafts, I am much happier and think that they look quite a bit more professional! Over all this assignment tested me in photoshop and in my patience but I think I came out on top!
Do you or do you not feel yourself becoming more confident with the tools you are being asked to used?
I definitely feel like I am becoming more confident with the tools I am being asked to use. It hasn’t been an overnight process, it has been hard work! I do feel good about where I am headed though and I am excited for future projects.
