The first demographic I will be targeting will be a potential student with parents whom attended OU.
This will target both the potential student gearing up to apply for colleges and the parents whom could be potentially paying for the student’s education. This demographic is toward 16-18 year old high school students whose parents make between $80,000 to $130,000 per year. These students have taken their ACT/SAT and have received scores good enough to get a small scholarship. These students are involved at their high schools and attend sporting events with their families. Their parents are members of the alumni association and make regular donations to the school.

To the Kid with the Alumni Parents

Rachel is 17 and a Junior at Tulsa Union High School. Both her parents attended the University of Oklahoma for their bachelor’s degrees. While studying at OU her parents met and fell in love. Five years after meeting they got married.

Rachel is starting to look into colleges and has a connection to OU through her family. Her family attends all football games and major sporting events. While she likes OU she isn’t sure if OU will be the best place to attend college. Rachel isn’t sure about the career path she wants to take, but she wants to have the full college experience. Her grades are good enough to get into private out of state schools, and her parents can afford to pay for her to attend a more expensive school.

Rachel is afraid if she attends OU her parents will only relive their college experience and compare it to the experience she wants.

To the Kid with the Alumni Parents

This direct mailer will aim to make Rachel feel as though OU is modern and ready to include her in the Sooner Family as an individual, as well as give her parents the aspects of campus they remember most. The mailer will be more focused on the relationships that can be built at OU rather than academics. The overall OU experience, with a list of organizations that Rachel can join and apply for.
