This week, the typography games I decided to play were Shoot the Serif, Type War, and Kern Type. The first thing I noticed about these games was… they are hard! I definitely was no pro at choosing fonts and didn’t realize how little I knew on them. That being said, I also didn’t realize how much I knew. I’ve never paid attention to serif and sans-serif or which is which, but I found that usually I did pick the correct one. It’s in my mind even if I don’t realize it. I definitely wasn’t too good at Type War without looking up the answers, but since I was told to “cheat”, I’m guessing I’m not the only one. I already felt like I learned a lot after only playing it for a little while. My favorite game was Kern Type. I actually found it fun to try to put the letters in a pleasing way and see how it compared to the typographers way. I wasn’t too terrible at this either. I’ll definitely be playing these games some more and I might check out the others as well.
