Wow, what a semester! It was quite the adventure getting to go back through time. I first read my story backwards, then I did it chronologically. This was exciting because at the beginning, I was quite the typical lost student. Then now, I feel extremely confident.

Back in the day, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign were nail-biters. I mean, InDesign actually made me cringe because of how confused I got. One of my favorite things was looking back on that blog post, one of our first reflections which was in early September. In it I described how at first I thought I understood, and when I started working on that Typesetting assignment, I got frustrated and nervous. Looking back on my actual work with that assignment, while I tried my hardest, it was definitely not the greatest I will admit. Last week, doing the newsletter (and let me say, my FAVORITE assignment) I think was when a light bulb went off. I worked extremely hard on that assignment, and to be honest, I don’t think I have ever been that proud and relieved when I saw my grade. It all payed off and I think doing that assignment was when I truly realized the importance of understanding the program, as well as putting in numerous upon numerous hours.

If I could redo an assignment, it would definitely have to be the business cards. While I liked what I had done, it could have been better. I could have added more personal touches, like I did with my newsletter. As I have learned over this course, it is all about making it personal and trying to reach the viewer’s emotions. That is why in my newsletter I added Delta Airlines’ color scheme as my background. This made it more personal, look better, as well show the viewer what Delta is about.

Overall, I believe I have grown tremendously as a PR practitioner over this great course. I now know valuable qualities of what it takes to be in this field, as well as programs that are necessary. I know how to use InDesign to the best of my ability (while of course there is ALWAYS room for improvement), as well as Adobe Photoshop. As I mentioned early on in the year, I was a hard core procrastinator. But because of this class, I have now leveled up to simple procrastinator. With this I mean, from rare time to time (because I’m human) I do leave things to the last moment. But now I start way in advance on projects, as well as studying for tests. I would say this is a huge improvement. A Reading Through Time
