When I first read this assignment I thought it might be one of my worst nightmares, along with creating a newsletter :’). I absolutely cringe looking back at old Facebook statuses and pictures, so I was just bracing myself for some uncomfortable things I might have typed out.
The early days
The semester started out kind of slow- my blog posts were rather boring but the topics that were covered were necessary for the rest of the semester. I read my blog post about Panther City Distillery and got emotional? Because at the time the company was a little baby and the vodka was not in stores yet but now they are in every Total Wine in Texas :’). Sweet moments. Some of my favorite work was about that company. The later work is better and more professional.
I take a lot of pride in the direct mailers. I loved that project and I feel like I invested a lot of time into it. I wish have given more effort into the newsletter. But other than that, I am pleased with my work. You can tell that I’ve improved a lot.
I think I grew in my designing skills. Before the class, I didn’t really know how to do design stuff on the internet- and I even took intro into advertising. I think this class should be 100% taken before intro into ad so you least have an idea of what you’re doing before designing an entire book. It helped me grow as PR practitioner by being able to navigate different design mediums in the best way possible. Although, after graduation, I am not planning to practice PR, I am still confident I can create something special for a company or friend who needs design help.
I really liked this class.
