Takeaways:

  • The things that make up a memo was a good takeaway from this chapter. This along with the things that a memo can be written about will be helpful for the future. Remembering that you are writing something that other people will see helps to make your writing more casual and readable.
  • How to write a letter seems simple, but its a good takeaway to have all the parts of a letter and how to write them readily available. There are a lot of moving parts that go into writing a proper professional letter, it is nice to have a template.

    • Thinking of the different ways a PR professional communicates with clients and publics. I never really think about how to draft an email or leave a voicemail for someone. I’ll keep this lesson in mind the next time I email someone about an internship or potential job.
  2. What did you read that you think is most useful/applicable to your current writing?
    • How to draft an email will be the most useful for my current writing now. Emails are the main way I will be communicating for the next year, being able to craft a professional email will help me get farther in my career.
  3. What did you read that you think is most useful/applicable to your professional goals?
    • I think the template of how to do a memo will help the most in my professional career. Working in government there will be an endless amount of memos, so being able to master them while still in college will prove to be useful.
