Hi! My name is Jaidyn Jackson. I am a Public Relations major with an International Studies minor. Saying that is something that is so crazy because freshman year I was dead set on my Chemistry and Finance double majors and thought that I would be off to medical school after graduation. Now, I have put an emphasis on pre-law studies and will be attending law school upon graduation. I believe in persistence and work ethic to get you to where you want to be. I also strongly believe in second chances. I see my success in Gaylord and pre-law studies as a prime example of my second chance. I am in a major and study program that I love and that is what matters. I also have found things here at OU that I am passionate about and am able to get involved with. I found my niche in the philanthropy world and have since involved myself in different groups to help where I can. The Big Event, Relay for life and the philanthropy committee in my sorority have been some of my favorite parts of being at OU as well as bringing people into my life that I would have otherwise never have met. Those are the people who motivate me and guide me along in my collegiate year. I met older people in my first two years that still have stuck with me as a mentor and guide in my life. I go back to my freshman year majors as an anchor for when I decided to do what I loved and not what I thought I was supposed to do. It was after that, that I branched out into new and creative things. I would say that becoming the apparel chair for my sorority really was the tipping point for me reaching into my more innovative and creative side. I discovered how much I did enjoy designing for cause and I started to do more and more things like that. With my philanthropy committee I was an integral part of our philanthropy event, Have A Pie, in designing the actual event as well as graphics and apparel for the event. From then I kept involving myself in more and more design oriented things like setting up and managing social media for small businesses and being lead creative on my advertising project. All of these things are only along the cusp of what I know is out there. I look forward to learning how to even better utilize the adobe creative cloud throughout this course and take my design that much further!
