I. AM. DONE!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW what a journey it has truly been (more like a rollercoaster). As I reflected on my journey through PR Pubs when creating my Summary of Learning project, it amazes me how far I’ve come and how much I’ve grown in my confidence level!
For my Summary of Learning project, I decided to create a video using GoAnimate.com. When looking at the ideas Professor Croom listed for us, I was very intrigued by creating an animation video of my journey. For this project, I wanted to highlight the key moments in my rollercoaster journey through this course. I began showing my reaction and work process through completing the first design project: creating a business card and a letterhead. I remember coming into this class being extremely intimidated and even more intimated by Photoshop and InDesign. I literally had no idea what I was doing when I first started creating my design for the business card. However, after re-watching Lynda videos, I finally came up with a design that I thought worked. Completing the letterhead came easier since I had just spent a good amount of time messing around on InDesign. After completing the first design project my confidence level went up. Next, I highlighted my reaction and work process of creating direct mailers in my animated video. This was the true turning point for me in PR Pubs. I was extremely intimated by this project because it had to be completed in Photoshop. However, I overcame my fear and created two direct mailers that I was proud of. After completing this project, I thought I could accomplish anything. Finally, I highlighted my work process of creating a newsletter. Even though it was the most time consuming project, I really enjoyed it. I feel that my animated video I created really represents my journey through completing PR Pubs emotionally.
Final Thoughts:
I really enjoyed the format of this course. I felt that the journaling and reflecting on what we had just completed each week really helped me see myself grow. Sometimes I get so caught up in the moment of trying to complete a set of assignments that I don’t take the time and really think of what I just accomplished and learned. I definitely feel that I have grown as a PR practitioner from taking this course. I feel as though I have the skills to go out into the real world and create designs using InDesign and Photoshop, which I thought I would never be able to accomplish. I really proved myself throughout this course that I can succeed at the things that I am most intimated by.
Thank you Professor Croom for helping me grow in the design world!
