This week, we were asked to be the social media person for the company of our choice. I chose Panther City Distillery, the same company that I also did a business card and letterhead for. We were asked to create a cover picture on Facebook, an Instagram, and a Facebook and Twitter post.

At first I was like wow this is a lot. But once I started playing around with Canva, I fell in LOVE. I suddenly understood how people can create these amazing things. I thought Photoshop was the end all be all and I was just going to have to cope with it (which I still will) but Canva will for sure be my new go-to. It is user-friendly- I had absolutely no problems creating what I had in mind- AND it gave you ideas! How incredible. When I was playing around with it, it reminded me of Chipotle’s cups and bags with the little side stories on them. I thought to myself, wow I could create something like Chipotle now… (if only the food I cooked tasted as good as theirs).

I was pleasantly surprised of what I finessed in Canva. I thought I was an entire different person with a positive outlook on what I was doing rather than feeling constantly defeated in Photoshop where I couldn’t even figure out how to delete a certain thing without it taking a zillion hours.

I think my reaction was the way it was because using Canva reminded me that although I thought me and Photoshop were getting acquainted,  I absolutely hate Photoshop. I don’t think it is user friendly and I definitely think it is technology of the past. For example, last weeks project when we were asked to create the direct mailers, I feel like I could have come up with something really aesthetically pleasing in Canva vs. what I did in Photoshop. I am still proud of my work last week, I just feel like I could have done something cooler in Canva.

OK so you probably get the point, I am a Canva groupie. I love it. But the only thing that bothers me about Canva is sometimes it takes a second to realize where you are clicking and such. It could have been my wifi, but that was my only complaint. It was so self-explanatory and so cool. I love their graphics and everything. Ah. I really hope we use Canva again. Canva is my friend.
