This week, we were asked to write a position paper over the Tipton Children’s Home and how it is a viable alternative to state-run foster care.
For some reason, I thought a position paper wouldn’t so much strenuous reattach, I thought I was just going to support why it is, not have to combat conflicting views. But it was interesting researching about how messed up the state-run foster care programs are. I was shocked to see the numbers of abuse and neglect. It broke my heart.
I truly believe that I am now an advocate for Tipton Children’s Home because of how great they treat their children compared to DHS. I think my reaction is the way that is is because I was ignorant to how messed up state-run foster programs are. I am glad I was able to enlighten myself on the issues of foster care.
