During this week, we were not asked to submit a certain assignment or a specific topic. Instead there were slides that introduced us into the ABC’s of Journalism and the important elements when writing a newsletter or story.
Since I took the course, Writing for Mass Media, I did remember some of these topics that were introduced. The lede and bridge were elements that I do not remember and so I found this information very helpful. The Dateweek was new to me and I found that before I never asked the question of whether to use days or dates. Now I know about the dateweek and the rules that come along with it.
I enjoyed refreshing my memory on the Inverted Pyramid and the Big Five. I think by refreshing my memory on these elements along with the rest, I will be able to start to write like a PR professional. As we move forward in the course, I will be able to look at my notes and then my writing to make sure I am following these aspects.
