This unit, I was asked to identify parts of a newspaper, write two news releases and write a blog post reflecting on what we had to do.
I was pleasantly surprised that the work load this week was not as much as I anticipated. I was surprised that the news releases were due on Wednesday. Thankfully I was able to get them done in time.
I thought that identifying elements on a news paper was a simple task. It was nice to be refreshed on what everything is actually called. The news releases weren’t as bad as I thought. I am just grateful that I looked on canvas in time to get them ready. I also did most of the assignments on Wednesday so I almost forgot to reflect on what I learned today, but I am glad I didn’t forget.
My reaction was what it was because of my knowledge from previous classes. In writing for the mass media, we had to write news releases. I totally forgot that the releases need to be in a specific format. In PR Publications, we were also asked to mark up a newspaper so it was nice to already have knowledge on that topic. The blog post is the same every week so I wasn’t surprised by that. Overall, this week’s work was not as bad as I anticipated and am grateful to not be doing it in the last minute.
