Never did I think this day would come, but wow here we are! My last PR Publications blog post ever. I am thrilled/sad/relieved all at the same time, and I know for sure that I will absolutely miss getting to create things like I do in pubs every single week moving forward with my education.

The format of this course is designed in a way that is accessible and easy, as well as creatively engaging and fun to do. I had a love/hate relationship with journaling every week, just because I am bad at writing on a schedule and writing regularly, but I loved being able to use my personal style and voice to explain the work I was doing throughout the semester. Writing for a public audience was never intimidating to me and it never felt stressful, it just felt like I was writing to explain my work which was something I really loved having the opportunity to do.

As a designer and creative, I have grown exponentially because of this course. I have seen myself go from someone who makes things that are lop-sided and slapped together to someone who comes up with a creative concept and carefully orchestrates and illustrates what she is intending to make. I can actually create publications that are creative, eye-catching and that ask people to respond, which is something I couldn’t learn anywhere else. I have loved this course and everything that it is, even though it was tough and sometimes it was a lot I always knew I was learning and ultimately it was so so worth it.

Here is my Summary of Learning infographic in two forms:

Summary of Learning: The Final Post!

My heart behind this was to make it a personalized road map of what I’ve done in PR Publications, centered around the idea that all this class truly is at its core is saying yes to creativity every time you design. I think that the more I said yes to doing something that really pushed the envelope or that was outside of my comfort zone, I got better and had more skills in my tool box, and that is why I am so much better for taking this course. I walked through my journey in this course project by project, using images and text to explain what everything was, give a visual example and explain what I chose to let the viewer know that the work shown is mine. I really like the way it turned out, even though it is so much more colorful and busy and kinda complicated than I ever would have dreamed, it is a beautiful summation of my work from this class and I think I would do it the exact same way if I were doing it again.

Again, I have loved pubs so much this semester and wouldn’t give up my experience with it for the world. It has made me a better PR Professional, graphic designer and overall creative than any other course in college so far, and I am so grateful to have learned everything that I have this semester.

Goodbye for now, and say yes to creativity today!!
