I really enjoyed this week’s assignments, I think because it was a chance to promote your client in a really creative way. I had never designed a logo before or created an info-graphic so I had fun experimenting with that and the end result is something I think my client will really enjoy. For the logo, I ended up using their original design for inspiration and creating one that looked a little more professional and represents their brand better (in my opinion).
The assignments this week made me realize how versatile we must be as PR professionals. Possessing strong writing skills in important, but so is having multiple skills in your “tool box.” I used to think knowing how to use Photoshop or InDesign was only necessary for people who wanted a career in graphic design, but now I think having that skill can help set you apart from other PR practitioners. It also gives you more opportunities to promote your client. It also saves you time and money, because instead of sending a request for a design project out to a graphic designer and being at the mercy of their timeframe, you can just do it yourself! An added bonus: you know the client better than anyone. So you can execute the most effective design!
