First off I want to say that PR Pubs has been really fun for me! Now that’s not to say that there haven’t been times that I’ve wanted to pull my hair out or give up because let me assure you I have. But for the most part this class has been really fun and I’ve learned a lot about design. Prior to this class I didn’t really think I had what it took to be a “designer”. Now I can say that I know Photoshop and InDesign and I know how to semi build a website/blog. Looking back on my past blog posts it’s clear that I had some struggles this semester. I could not understand Photoshop for the longest time (and I still don’t really) and I was always second guessing my designs. However, I carried on. The social media design assignment where we used Canva was the turning point for me in the semester. I chose an organization that I am passionate about and eventually would love to work for. This made my designs more impactful and meaningful for me. I remember that I was so excited when I came up with the collage idea for the Instagram post. I literally could not keep still from excitement.
I have gotten a lot more confident with my design choices. I get excited to design something and I’m finding myself wanting to design more and more things for organizations I’m involved with. While I don’t think I could be some stellar graphic designer someday I know that I am getting close and that makes me happy.
