Campus Hangouts

Have you ever been on the corner of Brooks and Elm? You know the spot in front of Godard Heath Center. It has that small patch of grass next to the sidewalk. The building has windows that look like piano keys? There’s a big oak tree next to the walkway. It has a long winding ramp on the left? It may not look like much, but this small little plot is my favorite place on campus.

Why is that your favorite place on campus? THIS IS WHY

Before I decided I wanted to go to OU I knew the campus like the back of my hand. My family has tailgated every home OU football game for as long as I can remember. Most of my Saturdays are spent here in the fall. Win or lose i’ll be on campus in this exact spot with my family. My fondest memories have been created in this small space. As times continue to change one thing that continues to remain the same is this spot. Nothing has changed in this spot for years, I’m not exaggerating. Years pass and Im growing older I realize how much of an impact this area has made on me. Without its big tents staked to the ground it just looks like a piece of grass. Without all my cousins climbing throughout the big oak tree it just looks like a giant tree. Without the laughter from family and friends all I hear is silence. My favorite place on campus is seasonal, but when it makes itself present it’s a wonderful sight.
