Week 1
This week in PR Pubs we talked about stories and how emotions play a huge role in the stories we create. Professor Croom assigned us to watch the movie inside out. I completely forgot and then when asked why I didn’t watch the movie the only response I could gather was “I forgot”.
Watching the extra feature on how inside out came to life was unique. The director Pete Docter was inspired by his nine-year-old daughter and the emotions she is faced with in her daily life. The movie had ideas that were unlike any other movie I’d seen. Pete worked solely off of the actors and found inspiration through his own personal life. The screen writers wrote scripts that accommodated the actors. In the beginning the movie was sprung from an idea not a scripted piece of work. Through collaboration the team of directors, actors, writers, and producers worked towards making this movie relatable on all levels.
One thing that really stood out to me from the feature was something Pete said, “Emotions are the key to relationships.” As the semester continues I see myself reflecting back to this quote and pulling inspiration from these core emotions in hopes to build a deeper connection with my audience.
