Today at PR Pubs was a total disaster for me and I could feel the heat. All of the class was to follow the instructor’s example using InDesign and keep up. It was incredibly difficult for me to catch up for mainly two reasons. At first, I have to admit I am a total greenhorn when it comes to adobe products, especially InDesign, since I have never used programs such as these. Secondly, I kept getting sidetracked with peers asking questions about how to maneuver the computer for certain tasks.

I came out of class stressed out and decided I need extra time with InDesign. As a result, I finally concluded that I should go to the computer lab in Gaylord to finish this project. I am actually pleased with my decision and have been learning by myself. I’m still getting frustrated finding the same colors and proportions as the example given in class. I know the assignment does not call for an exact replica; however, it irks me to have it a little off.

the source of my agony

As you see in the above picture, I am trying to find out how to use the gradient tool to copy the given example. I have no idea how the original author did it because I am somehow making part of my rectangle transparent.

I have mixed feelings towards this project and what it spells for me in the future. On one hand, this project is a lot of fun to do and I feel as if I could design a decent cover page. On the other hand, I know I have to work on my pace within class and keep up so I will not have to go through that discomfort again. Nevertheless, I am encouraged to learn more about InDesign and other similar programs.
