At the University of Oklahoma, my main place to study, to chill, and hang about is the Helmerich Collaborative Learning Center at the Bizzell Library.

otherwise known as the alternative to my house

It has everything I need: a place to get coffee, a whiteboard to study with, and enough noise to make it a lively hangout spot.

I especially enjoy the “private” glass rooms you can use with friends or colleagues. The rooms were a godsend when working on finishing up on projects right before hell week. Also, I believe there are two community rooms on the same floor where you can find students/faculty using it for their own purposes.

However, I wish the coffee joint there was not a Starbucks. I dislike Starbucks because I feel like I am selling out every time I buy something from there for some odd reason. I can’t describe the feeling other than my inner hipster screaming inside me not to get anything from there. Also, I hate fueling the Starbucks chain where all California valley girls get their morning coffee.

                                                A seriously dangerous combination

I linger around the Helmerich Collaborative Learning Center after I’m done with all of my classes for the day. I spend too much time there. For instance, I once spent around 40 hours one week just in the place alone just to finish all of my work for an upcoming vacation! It’s as if it is my home away from home.
