In these past few weeks of PR Publications, we've been tackling adirect mailer projectfeaturing the newOU Residential Colleges. It has been an enjoyable project getting to work with official OU logos and building renderings, because it helped me to get in the frame of mind of "if it got published as an OU sponsored message, would I want to receive it". Below is the final product that I am pretty proud of, all of it done in Photoshop.

The top two images were crafted to target the competitive, innovative and academically inclined freshman who is looking to live on campus during their sophomore year. They are focused on leaving a legacy at OU, and what better way than to help establish a new community and traditions. I focused on the competitive side by using words such as "Be the first", "Compete", "Get involved" and emphasizing the individual.
My second mailer, the bottom two images, are more tailored to out-of-state parents of freshman students. It reassures the parents that the best place for their student to feel at home is right on campus. I targeted the specific amenities that are most unique to the new buildings in hopes of them feeling like their student would feel comfortable while living on campus. With off-campus housing it's more difficult to know what you're going to get, but parents can rest assured that they know about the community their student will be a part of while living in the residential colleges.
We learned how totackle projects like this in Photoshop to help us understand its variety of uses in design, but I think I like InDesign better for this type of content. I hope that we get to work on similar content in the future.
Thanks for listening to what I had to say, and I hope that you have a great day!
