My title for this week’s blog post derived from the song that plays in the background of my video project. My COMPLETED video project, I might add. After weeks of tireless effort and a few mental breakdowns (just kidding), I finally turned in my interview assignment.
As someone who has used iMovie plenty of times before, and at times even swore by it, I can now say that I am a converted believer. Even without the helpful assistance of the Lynda videos, I found Premiere Pro to be very user friendly and relatively easy to navigate. Like previously stated, I genuinely enjoyed working on this project, and part of that enjoyment stemmed from the application used.
This week, in addition to completing our video assignment, we also had a guest speaker come and talk to our class. The speaker was Kacie Kinney, a real-estate agent, OU Gaylord alum, and friend of Croom’s. She was extremely well-spoken, and it was very interesting to see how she utilized her degree in a different way (real estate is not a traditional route for PR and Ad majors). As someone who has always thought that an agency career was the only path I could follow, but lately have been having doubts about whether it is my true calling or not, this was something of a relief to hear. Although I’m not necessarily interested in real estate, it is important for me to know that having a Public Relations degree opens countless doors for me in the workforce, and these doors are not just limited to the doors of agencies.
I am looking forward to working on my final project and showing all that I have learned in this class. I was originally hesitant about how much of this class I was going to be able to apply to my future career, but I am now convinced that this class has helped improve my skills as a PR practitioner immensely.
