In this segment of the course, we focused on writing a feature news piece. We had a list of topics to choose from and we then had to write a feature story about the topic. I chose to write about two of the dedicated buildings on OU's campus, theMichael F. Price College of Businessand theGaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication. Within the story, I made sure to cover the namesake's history with the college and talk about their donation's impact within the school.
This assignment helped to refine my writing style and maintain the balance of journalistic writing style in a more creative manner. It was enjoyable being able to pick my own topic on what to write about, albeit from a moderate sized list.
I wish that we had more experience on how to write pieces like this because I feel that this type of article can be used as either a submission to a newspaper, or as a submission on a company blog. This choice of message can help craft a more stylized approach to an organization's message and is versatile in use.
Thanks for hearing what I had to say, and I hope that you have a great day.
