This week was similar to last week in many ways. We identified a second stakeholder and read the next chapter in Designing for Emotion. On top of these two assignments we turned in a draft of our second mailer (see bottom of this post). Like I said before, this week was very similar to last but seemed a little easier because we now had an idea of what to expect from these assignments.
I chose to make my second stakeholder someone that could influence my first stakeholder. With my first stakeholder being an undecided students, it made perfect sense for my second stakeholder to be the parent or parents of those students. There are not many people in the world who can influence you as much as your parents can and because of this, I believe they are the perfect target for the second direct mailer.
Photoshop and InDesign have many similarities and many differences. A broad similarity would be that the tool bars and tools are fairly similar. Once you have figured what the paint bucket or eye drop tool does in InDesign you can fairly easily locate the same tool in Photoshop, even if you have never used the program before, and expect it to do the same thing. On top of that bot programs allow you to set up your project in similar styles. In both programs you need to create a text box before blindly typing away. Similarities like these and being able to scale object by simply dragging make the programs similar. The biggest difference is probably just how the two screens look. In InDesign you can see all of the multiple pages you are working on at one while Photoshop requires you to have separate pages/ tabs. Photoshop also has more emphasis on layers.
Overall I am changing the back of the first mailer because it looks similar to the business card I made and to be honest just didn’t look very good. I am still not happy with this result because I didn’t have much time to work on the first one again this week. There is too much white space on the back. I expect it to look much different again next week when it is fully done.
