For this exercise, we were challenged to play with fonts; this meant recognizing them (or shooting them!), playing matchmaker and deciding which fonts looked best together, and kerning words in order distribute them in the most effective way possible.
During the first game, Shoot the Serif, I quickly realized similarities between letters that were serif and that were not. Unfortunately, my realization didn’t help my score much. The quick, pressure- based game was fun and a great way to begin recognizing the fonts.

For the next exercise, I played matchmaker with fonts. Being able to choose the one I use most often and seeing what it pairs best with was interesting. This game taught me that sometimes letters that are similar work, but other times you want contrasting formats and elements in order to make your fonts stand out and compliment one another.
The last game I played required me to kern words, and then the game would compare my kerning to that of a professional. I played this game at least three times, as I was determined to match them perfectly on multiple sets of words. Ultimately, I really enjoyed these games and felt as though they were informative and helped me understand the importance of font.
