FullSizeRender-2This is me circa a couple of months ago on the way from Arkansas to Oklahoma with my amazing boyfriend (who can’t stand taking car selfies). I realized that I had trouble finding a picture of myself ALONE, so this is what we have to work with. Ugh I guess I turned from an ‘I’ into a ‘We’ – I’m one of THOSE people now.

But I don’t even care, because right now, I’m extremely, outrageously happy. Oh. I meant busy. I am a 21-year old Public Relations major at the University of Oklahoma, I am a sister and a daughter to a wonderful family back in Germany, I am an assistant to the Dean at Gaylord College, I am an intern at Lindsey + Asp, but most importantly – I am a hopeless 20 something soon-to-be-adult who needs to know Photoshop and InDesign to have any chance of scoring a media job after college.

Sometimes I think it is paradox, that college is the last phase of your life in which you’re allowed have fun, be childish and make stupid mistakes, but at the same time you’re expected to work hard, have jobs, internships, a good relationship with your family, S/O, and friends and simply alreadyHAVE YOUR LIFE FIGURED OUT. Hey, right now I’m happy if I find matching socks in the morning and hit my protein goal for the day. Baby steps.

What guides me is my dream to be someone significant in politics and media one day, not necessarily in the public eye, but someone who professionals call if they want to be advised on campaign management, media training and just overall fabulousness. I’m motivated daily by my ever supportive family who lets me know I’m loved with endless phone and Skype calls, German chocolate and hugs and kisses at the airport every summer break.

I want to be able to design my own content, not just plug things in templates. I want to optimize my blog presence, my resume and just my overall professional appearance. And I want to do that myself and not rely on other people who have already conquered the mysterious realm of Adobe.
