This blog post it going to be my doodle page for how I envision SAP’s next communication’s strategy, so please bear with me.

I’d love to stick with the colors SAP already uses: It’s that really warm, egg-yolk/plum/sun flower yellow, contrasted with either black or white. (edit: still can’t find the right name for it. Butterscotch? Mustard? Canary? Nutmeg?) I don’t even like yellow but that yellow is kinda pleasant to look at. The blue that is still used for the logo has changed from a richer, dark blue to a more transparent, lighter blue over the last years. However, I noticed, the company has moved away from the blue in most of its recent graphics and ads.

I want to include the little, comic-ish looking graphics with the black on yellow. Maybe as a fun little accessory on the business card. However, I need to be careful that it doesn’t look too playful overall. In the end, it’s still a business software company and needs to look professional and trustworthy.

The bold and short phrases that accompany most graphics, should either be a spin on the slogan “Run Simple” or highlighting some of the things that SAP’s services enable companies to do, e.g. “With SAP your products will be delivered 7 times faster,” or ” With SAP your delayed flight will still arrive on time.”

For the business card and letterhead, I want to make it fun but minimal at the same time. The yellow could be a good background color and then the black or white type on top. I also need to stick to the font they use which is usually an Arial or one close to Museo Sans 900 for the logo. I wanna keep it creative and inspirational but also sleek and software-ish on the other hand. I can see some wiring like on a software chip on a yellow backdrop, or some doodle-y little robot man, like the android robot and the rest simple, bold type. Name on the backside for the business card.
