This lesson, we were asked to learn about and then write our own backgrounder and fact sheet. I have no experience with either of these so far, so spent a lot of time researching and going over the components of how to write each.

The fact sheet was fairly easy as far as content, however I had trouble formatting it correctly. I couldn’t figure out how to do 2 columns for only half the page (not the address/contact info, etc.) and being able to type in both. Probably a rookie mistake and everyone is laughing about how I can’t do that, but oops. Couldn’t figure it out. So i just had to et creative in how i made it look like I did a 2 column thing.

For the backgrounder, this was a little more challenging. Looking up the information wasn’t hard but I didn’t know if it was supposed to be written in first or third person. I also was confused if we were supposed to have subheads, because there weren’t any in the examples but it is part of the rubric.

For both, I am still having trouble deciding what information is more important that the others.

I wasn’t happy with how the fact sheet turned out just because I didn’t know if it was supposed to have design and because i couldn’t figure out how to format it correctly. I was pretty happy with my backgrounder; I think I hit all of the points needed.
