I’m not going to lie, at first I dreaded this assignment so much. I really hate interviewing people. To be honest, one of the reasons (not the only) I changed my major from journalism is because I hated interviewing people so much. It just wasn’t something I’m good at.
As I started this assignment, I actually enjoyed getting to research OU’s history and interview different students and supporters of OU who have the same passion for the school as I do. I think I enjoyed it because I liked the topic and writing about OU.
I was pretty happy with my final result. I think I need to learn how to better write concisely without sounding too choppy and simple. However, I thought my quotes and interviews were well-rounded and covered a lot of the different points I talked about with all different historical features of OU.
This is definitely a skill set that I need to get more comfortable with to be successful in my career in PR. I was happy that I stepped out of my comfort zone and did something that I was nervous to do. Who knew I would actually kind of enjoy it??
