I was really pumped about the unit this week, because I LOVE Canva. For the first time in this class I felt confident about my design abilities. Of course, I do enjoy working with Adobe programs, but Canva makes designing simple, and it never ceases to inspire more ideas/projects that you may have not  considered before. I know that I can always rely on Canva when I need to make something really quick! I am a key blogging intern at OU Housing and Food and I always use Canva to create my feature image.

This week we were asked to study various social media designs, choose a company, learn about Canva through tutorials and then create four of our own social media designs for the company that we picked. As a lover of Canva and Patagonia, I was very excited for this project. So excited, in fact, that I was overwhelmed with the possibilities. It took me awhile to narrow down my ideas.

After narrowing down my ideas, and tweaking them throughout the week, I was very happy with my designs and the work I did with Canva. I believe that I reacted this way, because I am very familiar with Canva, which means I was more confident going into the project. I was also very familiar with the Patagonia brand, as I am an avid Patagonia user, which made content creation fun and simple. I was even able to include my own picture in one of my designs.

As I mentioned before, Canva allows for quick and easy design, while also offering many different ideas and inspirations that you may have never considered before. It is an amazing tool to begin designing with before you jump into the Adobe programs. It is a great tool to grow your design style.

With that being said, it does have limitations. Canva does not offer the same freedoms that the Adobe programs do, and I believe it is a tool that you can grow out of. However, it is still something that you should always have in your tool box as it is user friendly and a lot less time consuming than the Adobe products.
