In the Equestrian world, the number one goal of any rider or owner is the health of their horse. A horse’s health relies on many things, from proper exercise techniques to barn safety, but possibly one of the most important elements is nutrition. Typically, horses eat hay, but it is common practice to administer nutritional supplements daily. This process can be timely and complicated. In 1999, the founders of SmartPak set out to simplify this process.
The main “product” that Smartpak sells is its service. A Smarpak is a custom made daily dose of whatever supplement your horse needs. Customers simply log into their account, customizes their order of whatever supplements their horse needs and then receive a supply in the mail however often they need. This eliminates the stressful and time consuming process of carefully measuring out your horse’s supplements and makes the daily feeding process quicker and more precise.
The Mission:
SmartPak’s mission is to be our customer’s preferred resource for innovative animal care solutions delivered through an exemplary, consistent and trusted service experience.
Our goal is to be an industry innovator and leader. We achieve this through dedication, hard work and commitment at every level of our corporation. We strive to achieve these goals by emulating certain core values as a company.
The Competition:
When it comes to competition, Smartpak is the only one of its kind. Personally, I have not found any other supplement company that packages and supplies the way that Smarpak does. However, consumers may prefer to buy supplements from other venders and package the product themselves. A horse’s needs are constantly changing or a consumer may have more than one horse in need of a specific supplement. So, a consumer may find it easier and more beneficial to purchase their own supplements in bulk.
Attributes and Core Values:
Smartpak lists their core values as: Speed, Maniacal Customer Focus, Analysis, Risk-Taking, Team, Execution, Respect.
Smartpak is very customer-oriented. Not only do they provide a product and service, they provide an educational experience for their customers on their website. There are multiple tabs displaying detailed information about various horse health topics as well as a blog that entertains and educates customers on different topics. Smartpak is more than a one stop shop. It is a hub for horse lovers to interact, research and purchase top of the line products.
