I have never truly learned much about typography before so this assignment was interesting and fun for me. I enjoyed playing the games and learning a little more about the types of fonts, how to space them (or how to not space them!), and some general fonts that look good together and which do not look good together.

The three games I played were Shoot the Serif, Type Connection, and Kern Type. My favorite was Kern type because I tend to like things as perfect as I can get them and this game was about accuracy and getting the letters in a perfect spot. I also enjoyed it most because I did better at this than the others. Shoot the Serif was fun as well and I was decently good. Type Connection was harder for me because I am not familiar with which fonts go well together and which don’t. I clearly matched fonts that were bad for each other nearly every time I tried. I took some photos while playing the three games to share how I did.

Type Connection when I finally found two fonts that worked together.

I decided to go a step further and find more games that help with learning more about typography. I found each of these games to be entertaining. The first link is a game that makes you drag parts of a letter to make them the right size and shape. http://shape.method.ac/

This link goes to a game where you answer several questions and then it pairs you up with a font that fits your personality. I thought it was pretty interesting and fun to see what you get. http://www.pentagram.com/what-type-are-you/
