This week I put everything I learned in InDesign to first use! Honestly, so far I am impressed how easily I learn with the tutorials. I do need to take a lot of notes, but it makes it easy to go back to if I can’t remember a short cut or move. And omg, how genius is the loaded cursor option? Especially for my design it came in so handy.

Business card first draftFor my business card, I started off with a background in the company color, which is a mustard-y, rich yellow. I used the color-swatch tool to make sure it’s exactly the same. I should try to upload all the swatches I made into my CC library, but I couldn’t figure out how to do that yet. For now, I just scribbled down the exact color combination on a piece of paper (#oldschool).

I really wanted to create a frame of cluttered, messy, doodle-looking drawings. I downloaded a bunch of them from the internet and made sure they were transparent. If not, I changed that real quick. For now, I just allocated them randomly where I want to have them and next week I’ll start making them look more messy and random by changing the orientation and position of some. I want to create the effect of someone having spilled a bunch of doodles over one side of the business card. I added the company logo and I’m actually really happy with how it looks. I might use the grey in some other element for the card to create some balance. I’m not sure if I’m gonna stick with the fonts yet, but as of right now, I’m pretty happy!
