- My name is Jordan Smicklas and I am from Norman. I’m a junior Public Relations major with a minor in Non-Profit Organization Studies. I believe that passion is important when choosing what you want to do with the rest of your life, and I tried to keep that in mind as I chose. I have always had a passion for children’s healthcare and hope to be a communications and development director for a children’s healthcare non-profit. I also believe that we can grow only be challenging ourselves with opinions that don’t quite match ours. Therefore, I love traveling and I believe that learning from everyone you meet is extremely important. I spend most of my time working on Soonerthon, OU’s largest student led philanthropy, an event that I am the chairman of. Soonerthon benefits the Children’s Hospital Foundation in Oklahoma City, so it has allowed me to combine my passion for student leadership and children’s healthcare. My faith and desire to present myself in the best possible way guide me. I am motivated by my desire to please others and my desire to be good at the things I commit myself to. I think that design fits into my life because I enjoy creative outlets and expressing ideas creatively.
