1. What were you asked to do? In this unit, we were asked to create social media designs for a company or an organization.
2. How did you respond to what you were asked to do? I was excited to create designs for an organization in a field I hope to work in, so I chose Make A Wish. I researched Make A Wish materials to get a feel for their branding and work from there so that my work could be as realistic as possible.
3. How did react to what you actually did? I enjoyed working on these assignments because Canva is very user friendly, and especially easy to use after using Photoshop and InDesign.
4. Now go one level deeper: Why do you think your reaction was what it was? I loved getting to research and create materials for Make A Wish because I hope to work in the non-profit sector.

- What are some of the affordances that an app like Canva brings? Canva is very user friendly. I think that Canva does a good job of walking the user through designing materials. Even if you had no design experience, Canva could help you create something. It provides templates and allows you to easily insert your own material.
- What limitations does an app like Canva have? I didn’t like the options that Canva gave for text, but I also didn’t like the way it looked when you created your own. I also wished that I had more control over the sizing of pictures and coloring of text on Canva, for example shadowing text.
- How can a public relation practitioner leverage tools like Canva? I think that Canva is a great resource to create quick materials that don’t require a lot of elements, such as a social media header.
