My Reflection of Unit 1.3
I really enjoyed the work that we were assigned this week. This week was about starting to learn about Photoshop and InDesign along with the elements that you need to know for creating things on these programs.
The Design Blitz assignment was interesting because it challenged me to look at things in a different way. It taught me to be aware of the different elements of design, and to keep those in mind when I start my own designs. The typography games were fun and further highlighted on the importance of different typography and the way you use it.
Watching the videos on understanding Photoshop and InDesign gave me a good foundation for understanding how to use the programs and what they are capable of doing. The newspaper markup prepared me for the typesetting assignment by helping me identify what all the different elements were like a master head and byline. The typesetting assignment was good because it was a good first assignment in using InDesign. It was not too challenging and gave me a good introduction to really using the program.
I think I responded to all of these assignments with an open mind and an excitement to get to learn the programs. I really enjoyed learning about the different elements of design and being challenged to think and elevate things in a different way. After I was done with all of the assignments for this week I felt proud and accomplished of the work I produced and the new concepts and skills I learned.
I think my reactions to the assignments and the work I produced reflects my interest in what we are learning. I am finally in a class that I see the future benefit of what I am learning and I think that motivates me and gives me a positive attitude. I am excited for what I am going to continue to learn in this class.
